6 Ways to Take Your Real Estate Career to the Next Level

Feeling stuck or maybe a little stagnant in your real estate career? It’s ok. Most of us have been there too. Whether you’ve run out of referrals or are lacking motivation to find new clients, there are many reasons you may feel a little lull in what you’re doing.
Let’s talk about ways to get to the next level.
Step 1: attend beneficial training
Obviously you have Continuing Education credits you need to keep up with, however, please don’t let the training end there. While basic training is great to keep up with, there is so much more to learn and improve on in this industry.
Some things you’ll want to keep up with:
- marketing
- technology
- legality
- contracts
- …and so much more
At The Local Element our training program has been written, tested, and adjusted to fit the needs of real estate agents in every step of their careers. From the very practical contract instruction, to managing clients, the latest in marketing, and even emotional awareness of being an Agent we have training to meet your needs.

Step 2: obtain leads
Duh, but really. Always have leads in your pipeline so that you aren’t busy one month then twiddling your thumbs the next. While working on one transaction, continue to be looking forward and getting things moving. Balancing these things will be a huge benefit to you.
At The Local Element, agents are given the opportunity to opt into a leads program to be introduced to prospective clients from our websites, ads, and socials. We are always testing out new avenues for leads and cannot wait to share these potential clients with you.
Step 3: accountability
Working in this type of industry, we think it would be extremely beneficial to have accountability in some way. You could join a group or work with a partner or even make sure you have an office to go to each day so that you aren’t distracted by home tasks!
Our local offices hold weekly accountability groups to plan quarterly goals, weekly action items, and share what’s happening and what’s working well in their markets. It’s been a great way to keep each other accountable throughout the whole year!
Step 4: volunteering
Ok, so we’re throwing this one out there simply because WE think it is incredibly important to serve where we sell. Our Agents participate in bi-yearly volunteer projects with local non-profit housing providers as a way to impact our communities for good and connect with underserved programs where we sell.
Maybe this doesn’t make sense for you, and that’s ok. However, think of the connections you could make by volunteering with these types of non-profits in your area!
Step 5: business planning
Either way you look at it, you are running a business! Whether you’re part of a team or going solo, it’s so important to look at the bigger picture as you make future plans. Business planning is a great way to make goals and keep up with them!
At The Local Element, our Brokers meet with their Agents once a year for annual business planning and quarterly if Agents want to walk through quarterly goal planning! It’s been such a beneficial way to connect with the team as well as to have someone else help you get your ducks in a row.
Step 6: client systems
Stay connected with your people after the sale! We cannot stress this enough. Referrals make for one of the absolute best leads sources. How are your people going to refer you if they can’t even remember you or know that you’re still a real estate agent?
